L2L Day 4 - Calais to Tourquet

First ride in France.  We discussed the difference in personalities of French people vs British.  Brits are gregarious and talkative and sometimes a bit loud.  The French are more subdued.  They don't yell and Alex thinks it may be that they thing raising your voice is rude.  Today, we rode by a few ladies sitting on a bench.  As we rode back they yelled BON JOUR!!  And it was like they were singing - musical.  So when they do talk loudly, it's more like singing rather than yelling!   Another couple (man and wife) said Bon Jour to us loudly, and it sounded like they were harmonizing.

We've booked a hotel tomorrow in a town called Eu.  It's 60 miles to the hotel, so need a good rest and breakfast!

Cheers!

  1. What a terrific adventure! The map feature is way cool. Hope you enjoyed your time in Canterbury. Did you see the amazing horse sculpture outside the cathedral?

Enjoy the French food. Eat some fois gras for us!

    1. Is this, Vern?? Thank you! :). We have our safety triangles, blinks lights, and the bike route has virtually zero cars on it! Plus the drivers have been very courteous to us. Also, like looking up the translation to your post, Alex and I have been using google translate (with photos) a lot these last few days!

    1. Howdy, mamma. Thanks! We’ve encountered so many memorable places already, I can’t take enough pictures of them or we’d make no progress. The route had virtually zero cars, which makes it all so relaxing
