Alex and I are trying to make it to Tours from Chartres in 2 days so that we can take a day off riding and visit some of the castles around Tours. With that in mind, we faced an ~80 mile day today. The thing is, today is also our first encounter with not the best weather. The first 60 miles were slow drizzle and a fairly stiff headwind. The last 20 miles was full out downpour in addition to the headwind. But Alex really did a great job of spacing out our breaks - on the hour at least a 5 minute stop. We also bought and carried extra food, so we'd fuel up each time we stopped. We credit the breaks and good nutrition for finishing pretty strong today despite the weather challenges!
Tomorrow we will ride into Tours - rain or shine. It's going to be somewhere around 50 miles, which seems pretty easy after today!
