Who says the weather is bad in England? We wouldn't know because we just hit another perfect day and it's sort of become the expectation now!
The first couple of hours were spent working our way out of London, so lots of sidewalks and crosswalks. This made for a somewhat low mileage day of about 47 miles, that felt like well over 60.
Anyhow, what a fabulous day. We rode through a town called Rochester, which I think is maybe 30 miles outside London. It's a beautiful town with an awesome castle. Today they had a farmers market that we walked our bikes through. We rode through beautiful huge apple orchards which felt very similar to vineyards. Alex shared one of the fruits with a horse living just off the trail. We also rode some fun off pavement coastal trails where we came upon 3 cyclist (two above and one taking the photo) who were making their way to the coastal town, Dover. Their adventure was riding for a cause - supporting refugee community in the Hackney district of London. Anyhow, one of their bicycles had gotten a flat and they needed help. This is where Alex and I put on our super hero shirts and fixed their tire. They were super happy and gave us a round of high fives. The remainder of the day was spend riding on beautiful single lane country roads and finally stopping in Faversham for our next sleep.
The plan for tomorrow is to ride to Canterbury, probably doing a few loops around town and then to Dover where we will catch a 3pm fairy to Calais, France. Probably get a hotel in Calais.
