Amazing ride today, much of which was nestled between high groves of pine trees. It was very pretty and majestic to ride through them. The path is smooth, but obviously with pine trees on both sides, there were quite a few pine needles. The needles eventually find their way into the drive trains of our bikes and and leave a sticky residue. No worries, we will clean them up real well tomorrow.
Alex noted how manicured the tree groves seemed to be. They are sort of uniform in distance, and mostly clear of ground cover or low growth vegetation.
Tomorrow we ride to Irun, which is on the France/Spain border. This will be a relatively short ride for us, maybe 40 miles or so...
I hope whoever is reading this blog has a fantastic day! :)
Some pics don't make it into the video, so this is a bonus section. I thought I'd put in the wonderful sunset we saw tonight, along with what our typical hotel bedroom looks like. Also, can anyone identify the red berry pictured below. They are so amazing to see - very bright, almost fluorescent.

Great pictures!!! Love your mom.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying them!
DeleteGreat sunset and other photos. I like the individual photos — easier to zoom in and look at things in detail, compared to the video. Thanks for taking the time to update the blog and the photos. Very impressed by everything you guys are doing!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll probably just start dumping all the individual pictures below the video. Also, I've spend to some to try and figure out the background color on the comments, but can't figure out how to change it. Comments are nearly unreadable on my phone because there is very little contrast between the background color and text colors. On my Ipad, it's fine.
DeleteWow 73! Well done. Those burgers and brews must have been delicious 😋. Love the photos. Hope you rest well
ReplyDeleteIt's exactly what we needed after 73 miles! Alex and I are both excited to move on to Spain. We are hoping for more of a hearty breakfast to start our days! Nutrition is so important when doing these long days on the bike!!!
ReplyDeleteAll looks amazing! Enjoying the scenery, the food and the commentary! Thanks for sharing! Stay well and safe! D&B
ReplyDeleteThanks Don and Beth! It is waaaay more safe to tour over here than in the US! France has greenbelts top to bottom, side to side. You can travel anywhere you want with no cars! Can you check on Julie? Thanks! :)
DeleteI read the blog daily and look forward to it each night before bed time. I know there is a super strong Dad, Son bond, but this adventure has got to be the frosting on the cake!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my least favorite subjects in school was world geography. Even though I have been to several European countries, I am now wishing I would have paid closer attention to my studies in the eighth or ninth grade?
Love you kids be safe
Well, I'm glad you are enjoying the reads! We are learning a lot along the way also - both geography and also language. During our rides, Alex has been practicing Dual Lingo and quizzing me on Spanish. Hopefully we are better prepared for Spain than we were for France. I still don't know how to say "I don't speak French" - in French.... hahahh
