We executed the diversion to Poitiers, which was only 23 mile bike ride in order to catch the train to Bordeaux. It's actually a very good thing we did this because once again, Alex is having problems with his bottom bracket. We've found a bike shop in Bordeaux that has a full replacement and we will pick it up at 9AM Friday 27th of Sept.
The 23 miles this morning was not easy due to heavy rain and heavy headwind. I guess it's now obvious why everything in France is lush and green! :). Even with the difficult weather we've faced, my feeling is that France is still a beautiful place to tour on a bicycle.
Tomorrow we get Alex bike fixed again, then plan to see some sights if possible.

You two are so smart to know when to pivot. It allows for “the serendipity of travel”. The castles were stunning. The countryside is lovely. Hope you get to enjoy some good wine while you’re in Bordeaux.
ReplyDeleteThose desserts look amazing! Hopefully the next bike shop will be able to make a more permanent repair. Keep those photos coming of the countryside, bikes, and desserts!
ReplyDeleteThe desserts look yummy 😋, hope all your meals are delicious!
